A Hammonton Legacy
150 Years of the
Mount Carmel Festival
MainStreet Hammonton is proud to present this special photo series in celebration of the 150th Feast Week of the Mount Carmel Italian Festival—the longest-running Italian-American festival in the United States.
Photographs provided by Mazzeo Studio are on display in various downtown businesses, each capturing unique moments from the festival over the years. From the spiritual to the festive, these images offer a powerful visual tribute to the traditions that have brought generations of Hammontonians together.
Founded in 1875 by Italian immigrants, the Mount Carmel Italian Festival is the longest-running Italian-American festival in the U.S. Each year, it brings thousands together to honor the Blessed Virgin Mary under the title of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
From solemn processions to fireworks and food, the festival reflects Hammonton’s deep-rooted faith, cultural pride, and community spirit—passed down for generations.
